As we approach a season of gratitude and giving, we are reminded of the incredible impact that families can have on their communities. One such family that has been a beacon of generosity and support for our Community is the Funk family.
Elvera Funk, one of the first residents at Providence Care Center, was a cherished member of our community. Known for her ever-present good spirits. She and her family were touched by the excellent care she received. At Father Lacombe we cherish all stages of the human journey including death. After a joyous Christmas celebration with her family, Elvera passed away peacefully on December 30, 2026, at the remarkable age of 98.
The Funk family’s commitment to our community did not end with Elvera’s passing. This year, we were deeply moved by a generous donation from Elvera’s son, Duane Funk. Duane, who celebrated his 74th birthday in October, continues to embody the spirit of giving that his mother so beautifully exemplified. Despite living in a residence and having his own challenges, Duane’s generosity and kindness shine brightly.
Family giving is a powerful testament to the values of compassion and community. The Funk family’s ongoing support has made a significant difference in the lives of many, and their legacy of kindness continues to inspire us all.
As we reflect on the importance of giving, we are profoundly grateful for families like the Funks, who remind us of the true meaning of community and the lasting impact of generosity.
We invite you to join us in this season of giving. Your support, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply sharing this story with your social circle, can make a difference in our community. Together, we can make a difference.
